How to use Countdown Timer
- Enter whole hours, minutes, and seconds for a duration between one second and 24 hours.
- Select Start. The duration fields lock while the countdown runs.
- Pause to stop the countdown temporarily, then select Start to resume. Reset restores the configured duration.
Example
For a 90-second stretch break, set hours to 0, minutes to 1, and seconds to 30. Pausing after 20 seconds leaves about 70 seconds to resume.
Limits and details
- This is a page timer, not a system alarm. It cannot wake your computer, run after the tab closes, or promise a notification while your device sleeps.
- Elapsed time is recalculated when the page becomes visible, but browsers may delay background updates. Changing the duration while paused starts a new countdown.
Common questions
Does the timer keep running in another tab?
The remaining time accounts for elapsed time when you return. The display and completion message may update late while your browser suspends the tab.
Does the countdown play a sound?
No. Completion is shown on the page. Keep it visible when the timing matters.
