Privacy and data processing

The three text-based tools

Word Counter, Robots.txt Generator and Text Diff run their tool calculations in your browser. Their application code does not upload or persist your input or generated output. Copy uses your clipboard; download creates a file on your device. Text entered into these tools is not added to analytics events by their application code.

Website checks and other tools

Website checking tools send the submitted URL to our checking service, which requests the public website to produce results. The checking service records aggregate tool name, status and timing data, and uses a hashed network address for rate limiting. Some utilities use external APIs or browser services; their processing is not covered by a blanket “everything stays on your device” claim.

Use public URLs in website checks. Do not submit private URLs containing passwords, access tokens or other sensitive query parameters. Hosting and external providers may process request and network information under their own policies.

Analytics and third-party resources

The site includes Google Analytics to measure visits. Its requests can include the visited page address, device information and browser identifiers. Some tools load libraries from external CDNs, and some use other external providers. Those providers receive the network information needed to serve requests. Advertising services may use cookies when they are enabled. Browser privacy settings or content blockers may restrict these requests.

Local preferences

The theme preference is saved in browser local storage. You can remove it by clearing this site’s stored browser data. The three tools described above do not save your pasted text as a preference.
