HTML to Markdown

Paste an HTML fragment to create Markdown. The fragment is parsed as inert text; scripts and styles are excluded and unsafe links are removed.

This tool processes your inputs in your browser. It does not upload or save them. Read about site analytics and privacy.

How to use HTML to Markdown

  1. Paste an HTML fragment into the input.
  2. Choose Convert to Markdown.
  3. Review headings, lists, links, and code in the output.
  4. Copy or download the Markdown.

Example

<h2>Plan</h2><ul><li>Write</li><li>Review</li></ul> becomes a Markdown heading and two bullet lines.

Limits and details

  • This converts common document elements and does not preserve CSS or layout.
  • Images are omitted; unusual or malformed markup may be simplified.

Common questions

Is pasted HTML executed?

No. It is parsed with the browser’s inert DOMParser and the page never inserts it as active markup.

Are JavaScript links retained?

No. Links with unsafe schemes such as javascript: or data: are omitted.
