How to use Fuel Cost Calculator
- Choose metric units or miles and US gallons. Switching units resets the example economy and price rather than converting your values.
- Enter the full trip distance, expected fuel economy, and the price per litre or US gallon.
- Calculate fuel cost to see estimated fuel use and total cost in the currency you label.
Example
A 300 km trip at 6.5 litres per 100 km uses 19.5 litres. At 1.50 per litre, the estimated cost is 29.25. A 300-mile trip at 30 US mpg uses 10 US gallons.
Limits and details
- This estimate uses a constant fuel economy. Traffic, driving style, hills, temperature, vehicle load, and idling can change actual fuel use.
- US gallons differ from imperial gallons. This calculator does not fetch fuel prices, convert currencies, or include tolls, parking, maintenance, or electric charging.
Common questions
How do I estimate a round trip?
Enter the total distance in both directions. If the return journey is the same length, double the one-way distance before calculating.
Can I use imperial miles per gallon?
The miles setting uses US gallons only. Convert imperial mpg to US mpg before entering it, or use litres per 100 km.
