How to use Find and Replace
- Paste the text to update.
- Enter the exact phrase to find and its replacement.
- Set case or whole-word matching if needed.
- Run the replacement and review the match count.
Example
Replace “color” with “colour” in “Color and colorless”; case-insensitive matching changes both occurrences.
Limits and details
- Matching is literal text matching; regular expressions are not supported.
- A maximum of 200,000 characters is accepted per run.
Common questions
Can I replace a phrase with nothing?
Yes. Leave Replace with empty to remove matching text.
Does whole-word matching support Unicode?
It uses Unicode letter and number boundaries, so non-English words are handled.
